X has no apple, Y has half an apple, Z has one apple

I have heard it said that if Z has more apples than X or Y has more apples than X, and Z has more apples than Y, then zero and 1/2 have to be numbers.

Since "more apples" only apply to number.

I answer, they don't have "more apples" but "more apple".

X does not have "fewer apples", but "less apple". Y and Z both have "apple"-things, but the "apple"-thing for Y is a cut-off apple part, with a size relation to the whole apple it was cut from as approx. 1:2. With Z, it is either an uncut apple, or both halves of a cut one.

In other words, the above example does not force me to accept that "zero" and "a half" are numbers of apples.
